In this day and age we get so busy we rarely have conversations. We wake up really early in the morning, sit in traffic, get to work, get home, eat and sleep. And repeat the next day. We are so tired that when we get home there’s no room for any meaningful conversation. And even when we have date night we talk about the mortgage/rent that needs to be paid, how the house needs repairs and how mean the boss has been this week.
And that is why you need a time to reconnect. Which is the whole point of date night is to reconnect. For two or three hours, you are supposed to forget the things that bog you down. Unfortunately that doesn’t happen. Most times we go for date night and still talk about bills and the stresses of life. So how do you avoid talking about the child who had an incidence in school and instead catch up on just the two of you? Also, your spouse is constantly changing (and so are you) and if you do not constantly reconnect you will no longer know them.
